All levels including beginners are welcome. 

If you have your own oil painting supplies to bring to the class the price is just $45. 

Please ask for the supply list and you can pay on day of class for this discounted price. 

Monika will teach how to pain Aspen trees and the interesting effects you can create using oil with a palette knife.  You will learn how to mix colors and to capture the light and contrast of the bark on the Aspen trees. Monika will provide several reference photos so you can choose the season and the picture that you want to paint.

Supply list for Oil Painting Studio Workshop

Paints: Oil Paints or Water soluble oils.  

Must have:

White (big tube)

Cad Red med

Alizarin Crimson

Cad yellow medium or cad Yellow light 

Ultramarine Blue

Cerulean Blue or Manganese Blue

Phthalo Green


Nice to have:

Burnt Sienna

Sap Green

Raw Umber or Burnt Umber

Yellow ochre

Dioxazine Purple


Canvas: stretched canvas or panel. Your choice of 11 x 14, 12 x 16, 16 x 20 or 18 x 24

I prefer Ampersand Gessoboards with the blue label for painting with a palette knife.


Portable easel 

Paper towels 

Baby wipes  

Palette knifes (flexible type) RGM or Blick Blue painting knives, #5, #20, #33. These are available from Dick Blick for about $10 each. I will also have a few knives available for sale from me at cost if you like.

Backpack or large tote(tackle box also works good to organize and carry supplies). 

Pencil for sketching
